Hi there Witchy Woo’s!
This Saturday I thought I would venture out and take a gander at one of the premier tobacco stores in Gainesville, Florida! Now, I am not a smoker so I have never stepped foot in this store before today. But my eyes were filled with delight at all the cool smoke gadgets, tobacco flavors and ooh-la-la…..INCENSE!
I am a totaly hippy, flower child, whatever you wanna call me, and just love lighting up some incense and chillaxin’ in my home. Sometimes, I light up the charcoal in my cauldron and smudge some herbs, but more often than not, I have incense going in the crib. I love Dragon’s Blood, Egyptian Musk, and Lotus and Rose mixes.
They had a variety of cigars from around the world, bongs and hookahs, and they even carried adult entertainment. The latter suprised me the most; I haven’t seen a little room (pictured above) like that since I was in high school and dated Daniel Reyes who worked at our movie rental video store!
I chatted up the guys that worked there, and pushed a few buttons ofcourse! I had to mention how great these bongs and hookahs would be to smoke weed with! Ofcourse, one of the worker bees immediately said some weird diatribe about unlawful uses and legal prohibition. Yeppo…almost got put out of there on my first visit! lol!!! I schmoozed him though and gave him my 100 watt smile, and all was well.
Btw…. I hear a great place to go hookah in Gainesville, Florida especially for the over 25 crowd is
Infusion Hookah Bar & Lounge
So with a truce given I bought about ten packs of incense. I know I could make my own, but I am too darn busy(uhumm…lazy) for that! But for those that like to make incense here is a neat one I got from THE CAULDRON (A Pagan Forum):
RICHES AND FAVORS INCENSE
2 parts benzoin
1 part wood aloe
1/2 part pepperwort
1/2 part clove
Burn when you need favors and wealth. ( But smell it first on some charcoal. If you don’t like it chuck it. Who can visualize wealth if that shit stinks! )
I also like this one(THE CAULDRON):
HEALING INCENSE 3
3 parts Myrrh
2 Parts Nutmeg
1 part Cedar
1 part Clove
1/2 part Lemon Balm
1/2 part poppy seeds
few drops Pine oil
few drops Almond oil
Things You’ll Need to make Incense Sticks (From E-How.com)
-Powdered Incense Ingredients (Resin or Herbs) Thin Bamboo Wood Sticks,Makko Powder Distilled Water,Mixing Bowls,Measuring Cups,Measuring Spoons,Wax Paper and Glass Jar with Lid
Put your powdered resin, wood or herb ingredients in a jar with a lid. Close the lid and let the mixture sit for a week. This will give time for the aromas to meld together. Use high quality ingredients. To save time, buy resins, woods and herbs that are already pulverized into a fine powder. Many online retailers offer easy ready-to-use packages.
Open the jar and pour mixture into a bowl. You will have more success forming sticks if your mixture is pulverized into a fine powder. If there are any clumps, work them out with a mortar and pestle.
Add makko to the mixture. Makko is ground up bark from trees that grow in Asia. It is natural and very combustible. It burns clean and does not interfere with the true scents of your herbs, woods and resins. Mix together with a spoon. For sample recipe: Add 1 to 1/2 tablespoons makko to your incense mixture.
Slowly add a small amount of distilled water to the mixture. Use your hands to mix it together. Keep adding small amounts of water until the mixture is pliable and gummy. Continue to knead the mixture for a few minutes.
Put a sheet of waxed paper on a flat surface. Place a few sticks on the paper.
Scoop up a small amount of mixture and put it on the waxed paper. Using your hands, roll the mixture around the sticks on the waxed paper. Coat the sticks. The mixture should be about two millimeters thick around the stick. Continue until all the mixture is used.
Store the sticks in a cool, dry place for two weeks. They need to dry out completely before being burned. After two weeks, light one stick to see. If it goes out right away, let them sit for a few more days.
