So my thirteen year old daughter and I decided to take a little excursion to our favorite Indian Bazaar in Gainesville, Florida for some new Bollywood flicks. We are absolute fans of Sha Rukh Khan, Hrithrik Roshan and Kajol! After, we picked up a few new releases we ambled over to a cute little shop that seemed to have it on and poppin’. We had never been there and thought we would be adventurous. The name of this little shop is called Lollicup. Cute huh? They feature really unique smoothies and coffee confections and are really a mouth exploration all to itself.
In case you did not realize it; I am a foodie! I love investigating different cultures with my mouth as well as my mind. So, it just happened that the UF Vietnam sorority was hosting a fundraiser there. We looked around, left and then suddenly I felt it in my heart to go back.
I offered to give them free advertisement on my facebook page, took some cool pics and as we were leaving they offered us a free sample from their menu. Y’all know I sure ain’t gonna turn down freebies!
Here you have a Vietnnamese sandwich with beef cooked in theri special spices, shrimp chips and lavender sticky rice. My daughter and I loved it! The sandwich had cucumber and onion and liver pate and mayonaise…it was phenomenal! The shrimp chips was a first and they had a taste that reminded me of shrimp ramen noodles. Along with the sticky rice everything complimented each other perfectly in texture and taste. We definitely have plans to visit a Vietnamese restaurant in the future. Make sure the next time you are in Gainesville, Florida you stop by Lollicup. For every purchase they donate a dollar to this wonderful little sorority! Such a fun celebration of culture and cuisine!
